Kenya Revenue Authority has kicked off iTax roll out training in Nairobi in three major hotels on Monday 23rd February. The five day training is aimed at encouraging members of the public to learn and understand the new iTax Platform before the closure of the old system, an effort that will enable them to file tax returns efficiently.

iTax is a web supported solution intended to deliver services to taxpayers efficiently and effectively on line, through a corporate web portal. It provides a fully integrated automated solution for the administration of domestic taxes. It enables internet based taxpayer registration, filing, and status inquiries with real-time monitoring of accounts.

Among the key compliance functions enabled by iTax is the cross validation of information for all taxpayers registered. It is expected that upon full roll-out, the KRA will take services closer to taxpayers by enabling them to transact with the Authority from any location provided one has access to internet services. The Kenya Revenue Authority climaxed its 10th Taxpayers' Week activities.

The training will encompass registration of individuals, Non-Residents, Companies on iTax, data correction and uploading of certificates on iTax, filing of Returns on iTax. The Training will take place at Laico Regency, Ole Sereni and Safari Park Hotel.

This training is aimed at engaging members of the public on various challenges and ways to ensure the iTax platform is user friendly by understanding the processes required. Upon completion of the training I do hope that the public will utilize this platform thus  reduce the time taxpayers take to transact with KRA and also hasten processing and related services, among them issuance of Tax Compliance Certificates, refunds, amendments, waivers and tax exemptions.

Open to all citizens, the sessions will be provided at no cost and the public has been asked to carry their laptops and modems as this will be hands on training. In order to ease tax payments, the revenue collector has reviewed and simplified all tax returns and forms under the iTax system. Taxpayers can now apply for their PIN, Tax Compliance Certificates and file tax returns online through the system.
