Young Kenyans looking to break into the music industry, make lots of money and become famous can now participate in the 'Airtel Trace Music Stars' first song contest of its kind geared towards supporting and nurturing talents amongst Kenyan youth.

Starting today, contestants can win simply by recording their song on the phone call, with an option to rehearse on a phone karaoke that scores the performance.  To participate, a contestant will be required to call 0900 733 733 and record their entry.  You can choose to perform a song in any language /genre of choice. All languages will be considered as valid entries. One can also use instruments but you must sing and only the singing will be considered.

The contestant will then receive an SMS that his/her entry has been received and is being moderated. Once TRACE has moderated the entry, the contestant will be notified if the entry has been approved or not. If the entry is approved, the customer will receive 2 SMSs; one, a congratulation message that includes the candidate's username and a password to log into the TRACE website-www.tracemusicstar.com where one can customize his/her entry as well as sharing it to social media platforms. The second SMS is one that you can forward to friends and family to encourage them to start voting for your entry.

The 5 best entries will be selected by a panel of judges and will be announced on 4th January 2015. The finalists will be promoted on TRACE urban and the Web. The public will vote for their favourite entry through a short code 33733and the winner will be announced at a National Grand Finale event on 4th January 2015. The winning Kenyan representative will then move to the Pan African stage to compete with other African representatives for the ultimate prize. The competition is open to people over 18 years. People younger than this must have parental consent to participate.

The national winner will walk away with a Subaru Impreza hatchback and a chance to move on to the Pan African edition. First runners up will walk away with a phone worth Sh 90 000 and cash worth Sh100 000, with the second runners up winning a phone worth Sh 50 000 and cash worth Sh 50 000.
