The East African Property Awards is now accepting submissions for nominations to the 2014 awards to be held in November. The first of its kind platform that congregates pioneers and leaders in real estate to showcase their products established the awards to celebrate innovation and quality service in residential and commercial property development from around East Africa.
The awards come at a time when the East African real estate industry has recorded impressive growth in the recent past buoyed by a growing appetite for housing from an expanding middle class and Kenya's preference by multinationals as the strategic base to set up their regional offices. This has resulted in a significant supply of modern space whose quoted rentals have recorded a positive increase of approximately 10 percent, for commercial developments according to Knight Frank Kenya Country first quarter 2014 report. The residential sector has recorded a meteoric rise in demand for both buying and renting particularly in the mid income market as reported by Hass Property Index.
"The East African real estate industry is curving a niche as the destination for world class developments and this event seeks to rubber stamp that assertion while rewarding and celebrating the contributions of both companies and individuals from the various facets of the industry," said Rita Oyier, MD East Africa Property Award.
The event will draw delegates from over 6 countries and over 30 different national associations and academic institutions. The highest scoring winners in each category will be named as International Nominees in the East Africa Property Awards to be awarded during a gala dinner at Villa Rosa Kempinski, Nairobi on November 27th 2014.
The stringent evaluation process of the Annual Award to be overseen by a panel of judges will begin in September 2014 with shortlisted applicants announced on 10th of October. Judges are senior and respected real estate executives pooled from various real estate organizations who will screen all nominations, which will then be checked against the entry criteria. Elimination begins at the preliminaries to ensure only the best are reviewed by the evaluators, members of the industry, and supervised by an assurance provider.
"East Africa Property Awards seeks to be the symbol of distinction of the real estate industry as a result we will ensure that the judging is conducted fairly and with integrity. We have set out twenty-one categories spanning across developers, real estate agents, and key suppliers such as interior design companies, telecommunications service providers and the media," added Ms. Oyier
Nominees will then be subjected to public online voting until the 11th of November, 2014 where the nominee with the highest votes from the public will be selected as winner.
