Ministry of Information and Communication Technology plans on laying its focus on helping the foreign experts follow the right processes while applying for the permits and avoid delays.

In collaboration with the interior ministry, both sectors will facilitate faster issuance of work permits for foreign ICT experts, which will largely cater for those companies relocating to Kenya or want to open subsidiaries in the country. This is because the process of applying for the permits by ensuring they give all the documents required by the interior ministry hence the delay.

In a case where the team leader of a company willing to establish in Kenya is from a different country in Africa and would need clearance, one needs to work with the ICT authority for them to work with immigration department so that when they need explanation on what this means to the ICT sector the authority can explain to them.

The ministry has gone ahead to equip some members of staff at the ICT authority who will act as a guidance to the applicants of the work permits.

"We have had conversations with our colleagues in the Ministry of Interior and agreed that we will work with them to facilitate issuance of permits where necessary," said Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
