Telecommunications Company Orange has rolled out 3G network service into Uasin Gishu County that will initially cover Eldoret town and its environs, the Moi university locality and Iten.
The move is part of the company's ongoing plan to connect all counties across the country to Orange high speed network dedicating part of this year's expenditure investment to rolling out 3G networks across the country.
The new network service comes with 100% data bonus on all internet bundles from 20MB to 20GB and will be available countrywide to both internet on mobile and internet everywhere (modem) customers. Valid from April 25 to July 25, subscribers will be able to use the bonus data between 10pm and 6pm, daily.
"Our 3G network footprint in Kenya now covers Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa and Eldoret and will progressively move to other areas of the country," said Company CEO Mickael Ghossein.
Orange aims at increasing its market share backed by the fact that it has the best 3G network in the country in terms of quality of service, a point that was highlighted by industry regulator, CCK. According to the commission, mobile data subscriptions grew to 13 million from 11.6 million the previous quarter with the development of 3G .
To subscribe to the offer, customers will be required to dial #123#, select option 3 and then 2 for the offers from the internet enabled phone. Customers can check their usage by dialing *131#.
