SAP Africa in conjunction with DAWA limited merged in a software agreement earlier this year ERP (enterprise resource planning) that has seen the Pharmaceutical company's organizational efficiency ever since.
Dawa Limited manufactures a wide range of quality as well as affordable healthcare products at a facility in Nairobi, Kenya for both human and veterinary use. For more than 10 years, Dawa limited has delivered trusted medicines (180+ medicines) that meet real needs of the customers & consumers.
The implementation of SAP ERP solution is significantly assisting to achieve company's vision to provide high quality & affordable medicines across the Kenyan and other African markets.
The organization will now be able to standardize operating procedures and tightly integrate functionality in facets such as production planning, inventory control payroll, sales and distribution. According to Technical Director, Dr Jitendra Rishi, the transformation that occurred since the implementation of SAP software has been tremendous. The Sales and Distribution module for instance helped to improve order processing and deliveries to customers, whilst the HR module enables optimized utilization of manpower for various operations.
DAWA has been able to reduce stock holding to 5% since implementation by using production cycle as a basis. Also, SAP ERP has helped the company achieve end-to-end traceability of materials therefore improving the speed of calculating production cost. Previously, DAWA took around 3-6 weeks to value the internal cost of materials and production for profitability and management accounting due to the complexity involved in this process. Now product cost can be done online through proper allocation of cost parameters for every batch.
ERP software enables SMEs to streamline and optimize their operating processes across a broad range of divisions including procurement, manufacturing, sales, finance, and HR to deliver a significant boost to its productivity, competitiveness, and ultimately - its bottom line.
