Telecommunications company MTN, is set to acquire 50% stake in Internet Service Provider Afrihost with the existing shareholders including management retain the remaining 50% of the company.
Established in the year 2000, the South African internet service provider (ISP) providing a number of services including ADSL broadband and web hosting has also partnered with MTN a couple of years having the operator provide the company with bandwidth and infrastructure for its ADSL clients.
The acquisition will not change Afrihost's services to its clients promising better deals to the customers as well as the rest of the team. "The company name will remain the same and we'll keep running Afrihost as we have been." said CEO, Gian Visser.
Afrihost has reputable brands in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry and with this kind of deal, MTN will add scale to MTN's online ICT service offering, which was focused on the consumer and small business market. It will boost MTN's presence in the corporate, consumer and connected home segments.
